I have a confession to make…..I am a serial organizer, I can’t stand clutter & being disorganized. Everytime I think I have everything exactly the way I want it and I start just living my life and getting into a routine I find something else that needs organized. Over the last few weeks I have been cleaning and organizing…yes, you guessed it my studio!! Yet again. I have struggled since we moved here four years ago to keep my center table completely cleared so that I have an area to work and layout fabric or cut fabric when ever I need to without moving things. I think I finally achieved that and it took moving around some items on my built in to do it. I only have a finite amount of space and yet I still like having everything neat and try to make it as clutter free as possible. I have 2 desktop computers, one is for order processing and shipping, the other is a wide screen that I use for everything else such as my journal and design software. I needed a place to be able to cut stabilizer so I ended up moving my smaller computer to my sewing room so that I could use that space for cutting stabilizer and getting hoops ready to embroider. I have tried to make work “areas”. My built in that is across one wall is my design computer with all of my Cricuts & printers, I have 2 areas for cutting stabilizer where all of my embroidery supplies are and that keeps my center table mostly clear, although right now there are hooping stations on it but I can move them off easily to cut large bolts of fabric. That keeps my embroidery machine tables clear, and as I mentioned before I have a seperate sewing room where my sewing machines are and I took a large craft table and turned it into an ironing center where I have all of my heat presses. And then there are cabinets that are organized by type of crafts, all of my Cricut supplies are seperated and organized by types of materials and all of my embroidery supplies are organized by types such as T-shirts, quilts, towels etc.I also took a few days from organizing my crafting areas and cleaned and organized our walk in pantry and freezers, soon it will be fall and I wanted to make sure everything was clean and well stocked for the holidays. Did I tell you I also went on a plant frenzy??? I love indoor (and outdoor) plants and my husband helped me hang macrame hangers in several rooms to hang new plants that I purchased. I think after living in a desert climate for so long while my husband was active duty military and then finally getting back closer to where we both grew up in the mid west After he retired I really love seeing plants in the house, it make home feel so much more permanent and cozy. And flowers everywhere outside, roses, hydrangeas, Crepe Myrtles, Lilacs, Mums, Daylilies blooming all over our yard throughout the spring, summer and fall.I even found a corner in my craft studio for a little table and chair for having tea, just a moment to relax and think about new sewing and embroidery projects. It’s a funny thing, our lives changed so much after he retired from active duty and we moved to the south, then I retired, I thought I would be bored with nothing to do because all of our kids, grandkids and families live in different states. I am far from being bored, my time is full with taking care of my husband, our home and my online shops, I am so not bored. The days seems to fly by so having a little spot for a nice warm cup of tea is perfect.
